Dear readers,

Roemerman Law was founded with the purpose of helping people, or “doing well by doing good,” so to speak.

Famed wordsmith Ralph Waldo Emerson once said:

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

It is with a focus on that purpose that the mission continues and, we feel, is embodied in our motto “Real Solutions for Real People.” We stay in business by counseling people – wisely, we hope – through filing for bankruptcy, in defending their homes against foreclosure, and with their small and medium-sized business transactions as they try to live and build their dreams. The first few years have been personally fulfilling; yes, being useful makes me happy and I’m blessed enough to get to choose to work with people of a similar mindset…

Sometimes, though, help is not profitable or “for hire”; we must assist others in any manner we can. It is with that in mind that we have put forth the effort necessary to create this resources page, consolidating coronavirus information for the benefit of anyone who reads it. It will be continually updated in the days to come as we feel necessary and as you, our readers, request.

The conceptualization of this page started with dismay at the reckless disregard shown toward a virus for which humans have no immunity unless they have been infected and recovered in the past few months. Seeing people playing handball, basketball, and soccer in the park near my home and watching early press conferences claiming “we have it under control” or seeing multiple media outlets claim “it’s all a hoax” made me realize many, many people just “weren’t getting it” yet.

As such, I began warning people of the dangers of COVID-19 on my personal Facebook page. As things progressed, I have decided to roll out the Roemerman Law COVID-19 page with the help of others. I have long maintained that good lawyers mainly offer two things – translation and peace of mind. In offering what I can as an attorney, I will be translating the new Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Stimulus (or “CARES”) Act into plain English and offering health resources – from sources much more knowledgeable than myself – to arm readers with the information to defend themselves against this virus which, I hope, will bring some of you at least a small bit of peace of mind.

To be clear, this page is not political, nor is it business oriented. Yes, politics has played heavily in the response to the spread of the virus and, of course, I hold views like any American, but this page is not the place to discuss that – its purpose is to disseminate useful information. Yes, there will almost certainly be a spike in bankruptcies, both personal and business, and foreclosures. When that happens, we will be there for those in New York City who need our help. This page, however, only exists to consolidate health information from the Center for Disease Control (“CDC”), the National Institutes of Health (“NIH”), and other authoritative medical sources, while also giving people and businesses clear, straightforward guidance regarding the provisions of the CARES Act.

I hope you find this resource useful and, maybe, even comforting. Please feel free to share this link or the corresponding social media posts with others, follow us on social media, or bookmark this page to check back in regularly. Thanks for watching or reading and I wish everyone the best in these trying times.

Stay safe and stay healthy,
